Castle Rock Estate Shiraz

A rich and generous front palate fills the mouth with plum fruits. There is a thread of black pepper running the length of the palate, reminding us of its cool climate origins. The wine has great poise and balance thanks to balanced acidity and firm yet ripe tannins. This also provides power and drive, yet, wonderful restraint. The high quality French oak adds cedary characters and blends really well with the cool climate spice notes. The wine has great length and the flavours linger in the mouth long after the wine has gone.

About The Winery

Named after a prominent nearby landmark, Castle Rock Estate is nestled on the eastern slopes of the Porongurup mountains. The winery has been built in a way that makes use of the natural slope of the land with wine moved via gravity. Not only is this a more sustainable process, but gentler on the wine thus retaining quality. Castle Rock Estate is activley reducing their carbon footprint; their winery is solar powered, all waste water is treated with a pond aerator (100% solar powered), they utilise only rain water and use no pesticides or insecticides. Rob prefers to facilitate the natural balance of the vineyard; this allows for a heathy and strong microcosm. The 2017 Pinot Noir has recently been award 95 points from Ray Jordan Top 100 Red Wines. Jordan states “Rob Diletti is a first-class winemaker. He is consistently one of Australia’s best…He really does know how to capture the best in the fruit and you can always guarantee that whenever he got his hands on the wine, it’s going to be good.” Rob Diletti has also been named as a Gourmet Traveller Winemaker of the Year 2019 finalist!
