This wine displays a delightful intense combination of fruit and spice flavours with a lingering finish. The grapes for this wine are picked when the berries are fully ripe and mostly shrivelled. Great to enjoy with rich cakes, desserts or just savour by itself. Once opened the wine can be enjoyed over many months. This wine is made from grapes from the Rutherglen District.
“Here the wine emerges as a perfect example of muscat, supple and smooth in one moment, wildly exotic and energetic the next, playing tricks on the palate – just an excuse to have another sip, of course, the length of the wine is prodigious, as is its balance, but the orchestra of Christmas pudding, Turkish delight and high-toned spices plays on.” James Halliday
The unpretentious public face of this small family winery belies the fact that they produce some of the richest and most acclaimed wines in the world. Since arriving in Rutherglen, north eastern Victoria, six generations ago, the family has quietly gone about establishing a particularly enviable reputation for their fortified wines. Stephen Chambers is now making his own mark after taking over the winemaking role from his legendary father Bill Chambers OAM.
In 2019 their Old Vine Muscadelle received gold and the trophy for Best Commercial Muscadelle. Their Rutherglen Muscadelle received gold in the same Best Commercial Muscadelle category.
