Deep yellow-gold colour with slight coppery hues. Dried fruits characters are combined with hints of caramel, toffee, nuts, soft vanilla and dried spice with well integrated spirit. Intense, richly flavoured palate that is not as sweet as the name suggests. Great length of flavour with an enjoyable finish warmed by alcohol and an edge of sweetness.
The unpretentious public face of this small family winery belies the fact that they produce some of the richest and most acclaimed wines in the world. Since arriving in Rutherglen, north eastern Victoria, six generations ago, the family has quietly gone about establishing a particularly enviable reputation for their fortified wines. Stephen Chambers is now making his own mark after taking over the winemaking role from his legendary father Bill Chambers OAM.
In 2019 their Old Vine Muscadelle received gold and the trophy for Best Commercial Muscadelle. Their Rutherglen Muscadelle received gold in the same Best Commercial Muscadelle category.
