Mr Mick ‘Gela’ Sparkling

When we asked Mr Mick’s wife if we could name the Cuvee Brut after her, she was absolutely delighted! This wine celebrates the enduring partnership of Mr Mick and Gela Knappstein in life and love. The wine has fresh apple and citrus aromas with savoury yeast complexity and a delicate bead. It is ideal for any celebration, or just sit, sip and relax. This wine is made predominantly from Chardonnay and Semillon grapes harvested from vineyards throughout the Northern and central parts of the Clare Valley. The wine was cold fermented for fourteen days and then secondarily fermented under pressure before bottling. This is known as the “Charmat” process for producing high quality sparkling wine.

About The Winery

Named after K.H. (Mr Mick) Knappstein, a legend within the Australian winemaking industry. One of Mr Mick’s passions in life was to make wines for everyone to enjoy, a tradition his last apprentice, local winemaker Tim Adams continues in his name. Today Tim and his wife Pam are proud custodians of the landmark Leasingham property. Mr Mick once said there were two types of people in the world: those who were born in Clare and those who wished
they had been. In 1987 Mr Mick received an order of Australia for services to the wine industry.
