Wood Park ‘The Tuscan’ Red Blend

Loads of red berry fruits, spice and fine tannins. The finish is lingering.

All grown in within the Wood Park home block, this wine is a blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Colorino and Petit Verdot. The varieties are harvested separately and all fermented in 3 tonne open fermenters and were regularly hand plunged, helping bring out the vibrant color. The wines were transferred to seasoned oak barrels for 22 months and blended prior to bottling. This style was inspired by the super Tuscans of Italy.

About The Winery

Environmental scientist John Stokes planted his Wood Park vineyard in the foothills of the Victorian Alps in 1989. Driven by a passion for the environment John has reinvigorated Wood Park through a mix of re-forestation, erosion control and improved biodiversity. The vineyard is managed with a commitment to minimal chemical use. John’s wine making is a mix of traditional and modern techniques including plenty of hand plunging in open fermenters and use of wild yeasts.
